Minimum Connection Time (MCT)
Minimum Connection Time (MCT) is the shortest allowable time for a passenger — and their baggage — to transfer between an arriving flight and a connecting departure at an airport. It accounts for factors such as terminal distances, security screening, and baggage handling.
MCTs are used in schedule validation to ensure that proposed connections are operationally feasible. Airlines and scheduling systems check that the gap between connecting flights meets or exceeds the defined MCT before publishing a schedule.
MCT data is published by airports and airlines. Airline-specific exceptions and suppressions take precedence over the airport default.
