SSIM

The Standard Schedules Information Manual (SSIM) is an IATA standard for communicating airline schedule data. Airlines use SSIM records to exchange schedule information with airports, global distribution systems (GDSs), and travel agencies.

SSIM Record Structure

A SSIM record is a fixed-width entry — typically around 200 bytes — containing structured fields for a single flight leg. Key characteristics:

  • Fixed-width format — each field occupies a defined position, enabling automated parsing
  • Standardised fields — carrier code, flight number, origin and destination airports, scheduled times, days of operation, aircraft type, codeshare details, and more
  • Industry-standard — all parties exchanging SSIM data use the same format, reducing ambiguity and integration errors
  • Seasonal flexibility — the format accommodates seasonal schedule variations and frequency changes
